Veteran Congress leaders and former Union ministers, Vasant Sathe and N K P Salve, who were on a hunger strike on Friday demanding statehood for Maharashtra's Vidarbha region, were hospitalised after they complained of weakness and nausea.
Sathe's blood sugar level dropped alarmingly and he was shifted to a private nursing home, his son-in-law, Dr Uday Bodhankar, said.
Just hours earlier, Salve was admitted to a private nursing home after he developed some complications, family sources said.
Dr Uday Mahorkar, who is attending on Salve, said his condition is stable and he has been kept under observation.
The two leaders have been demanding a resolution on separate statehood during the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra legislative assembly in Nagpur.
