A Pakistani paper has suggested that a road map to easing Indo-Pak tensions could include complete 'disowning' of Hizbul Mujahideen by Pakistan.
News Line, a Karachi-based monthly magazine, said that this year the sub-continent's summer did not look to be one of discontent as a string of confidence-building measures by Delhi and Islamabad radically change the diplomatic environment in South Asia.
It claimed that the day Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee offered to restore diplomatic ties with Pakistan, a high-level meeting was called in Islamabad to decide a whole range of initiatives which Pakistan could come up with to match India's offer.
The meeting was attended by President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Mir Zaffarullah Khan Jamali, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri, Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokar and ISI chief Lt Gen Ihsan-ul-Haq, the magazine said.
Quoting diplomatic sources, it said Pakistan could in the coming days disown Hizbul Mujahideen and withdraw the terror's group's field commanders operating in Kashmir.
