Indo-Pak bus: High-level meeting discusses security

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to discuss security arrangements for the smooth operation of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service.

Besides Patil, the Centre's pointsman on Jammu and Kashmir N N Vohra, Home Secretary V K Duggal, Special Secretary Anil Chaudhry, Border Security Force chief R Mossohary, Central Reserve Police Force chief J K Sinha, Intelligence Bureau Director E S L Narsimhan and army officials attended the meeting.

Vohra said the security arrangements for the bus was reviewed.

During the meeting, Patil was told by security officials that the list of passengers published in newspapers in Jammu and Kashmir, was leaked from the Pakistani side, official sources said.

At the meeting, it was decided to sanitise all the areas using multi-frequency jammers to neutralise improvised explosive devices of any frequency, they said.

Additional forces will be keeping vigil from mountaintops during the inaugural function on April 7 in Uri of North Kashmir and Srinagar, they added.
