A local court on Wednesday remanded owner of Provogue apparel brand Salil Chaturvedi to police custody till August 17 in connection with an alleged drugs sale racket.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate V V Kamble accepted the police contention that custody of Chaturvedi, who was arrested on Tuesday, was needed for further interrogation in the case.
He was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the drugs sale racket, in which two Provogue employees, two African nationals and two police personnel have already been arrested.
Police suspect that some more Provogue bigwigs to be involved in the sale of cocaine.
The police have been probing the drugs case since January 26, when a Provogue employee Alex Sequeira was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Prevention) Act after he booked a courier -- that allegedly had cocaine vials -- for Chennai at the airport.
