J&K: 3 ultras, 1 SPO killed in encounters

Three militants trying to infiltrate into India and a special police officer were killed in separate encounters with security forces in Jammu region, defence sources said on Sunday.

The militants were killed in Nowshera sector in Rajouri district by alert troops who spotted them while they were trying to sneak into Indian territory.

In another encounter between a police party and militants in the Jantron area of Doda district on Sunday, Special Police Officer Ranjit Singh was killed.

Elsewhere, security forces busted a militant hideout in Channa Gali in Poonch district and recovered two AK-47 rifles with 3 magazines and 200 rounds, 45 UBGL grenades, nine hand grenades and one improvised explosive device.

Another hideout was busted at Morian in Rajouri district and recoveries from it included two AK rifles with one magazine and 30 rounds, they said.
