Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq is likely to lead a 15-member delegation of the separatist amalgam to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to undertake relief work in the quake-hit areas there, Hurriyat sources said Thursday.
The decision to send a 15-member delegation under the leadership of Mirwaiz was taken at a joint meeting of the executive committee and general council of the conglomarate at its Rajbagh headquarters in Srinagar, they said.
Hurriyat had recently expressed its desire to visit PoK to end a helping hand to the victims of the October 8 earthquake there.
The sources said the meeting, chaired by Mirwaiz, decided to include all the six executive parties and nine general council members of the amalgam in the delegation.
All of them have been provided with a set of forms and asked to deposit them with the regional passport office immediately so that the proposed visit materialises soon, they added.
The exact date for the visit was dependent on the clearance from authorities, they added.
Besides Mirwaiz's Awami Action Committee, the forms were made available to the executive parties - Muslim Conference headed by Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, People's Conference (Bilal Gani Lone), Itehad-ul-Muslimeen (Moulvi Abbass Ansari), People's Political Front (Fazal Haq Qureshi) and Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian (Aga Syed Hassan), the sources said.
They said Hurriyat has decided not to exceed the limit of 15 members in the delegation as the earthquake.
