Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been chosen as 'Person of the Year 2005' in a survey carried out by a leading Gujarati weekly.
Modi was closely followed by tennis sensation Sania Mirza and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, Chitralekha weekly said in a release on Sunday.
Having prepared a comprehensive list of the achievers who have consistently displayed excellence in their chosen fields, Chitralekha commissioned an independent survey among a cross-section of people from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Baroda and Surat, the release said.
The survey conducted among a large sample size of the Gujarati-speaking people spread across Mumbai as well as Gujarat indicated that 49 per cent of Gujarat-based participants voted for Narendra Modi. He, however, managed to secure only 17 percent votes in Mumbai.
Sania scored 11 percent and 32 percent votes in Gujarat and Mumbai respectively.
Amitabh Bachchan secured 20 percent votes from Gujarat and 21 percent from Mumbai.
Similarly, in the Sports category, Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid was chosen as Chitralekha Sports Person-2005, closely followed by Sania Mirza and Irfan Pathan.
