Condemning the acts of terror in Mumbai, politicians cutting across party lines have resolved to fight the menace with an iron hand and punish the perpetrators of the serial blasts.
An all party meeting convened by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in Mumbai on Wednesday also appealed to people to remain calm in this hour of crisis. Leader of Opposition in the legislative assembly Ramdas Kadam, state Bharatiya Janata Party chief Nitin Gadkari and party leader Gopinath Munde also paid tributes to the deceased.
"The meeting condemned the blasts and resolved to take strict action against the guilty while saluting the spirit of Mumbai. The investigations have been handed over to the Anti-Terrorist Squad," Deshmukh told reporters after the meeting.
Asked if there was failure in the intelligence machinery, he said: "Let us not talk such things today. We need time to conduct the investigations and probe is on."
Deshmukh said, "A single-point centre has been set up to disseminate information about the injured and the deceased. We want the world to know that such events do not worry Mumbai and that we will answer in a befitting manner. The way Mumbaikars came to help each other after the blasts showed the indomitable spirit of Mumbai."
