The Maharashtra government on Wednesday ordered an inquiry into the leak to some TV channels of CDs purportedly containing evidence gathered by the anti-terrorist squad in its probe into the July 11 train blasts.

"I have ordered an inquiry into the matter this morning," Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who also holds the home portfolio, told reporters at Mantralaya.

"There should be no scope for any leaks in such a sensitive case," Patil said after it was pointed out to him that two news channels had aired the CDs that contained statements of the accused in the case.

"We will probe if the leak was deliberate, whether money was accepted in exchange for the CDs or if there is any other reason behind the leak," he said.

Wednesday is the first anniversary of the seven blasts on commuter trains in Mumbai that claimed 187 lives.

Asked who would probe the matter, Patil said, "We have many agencies to do the job. The inquiry will be completed well within a month."

In the CDs aired on TV channels, a key accused is purportedly shown admitting to the conspiracy behind the blasts.
