Pakistan has denied reports about the presence of global terrorist and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim on its soil and his detention two months ago.
"Apprehension of Dawood Ibrahim (subject of Interpol Red Corner Notice A-135/4/93) and his presence in Pakistan has not been substantiated," a Pakistan Interpol communication to the CBI said.
Extensive reports were carried in the media about Ibrahim being detained in Pakistan in August. Following these reports, the CBI, which represents the Interpol in India, had sent a request to its Pakistani counterpart to verify them.
The Interpol-Pakistan responded to CBI's request recently.
Ibrahim, wanted in several cases including the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, continues to be the subject of Interpol Red Corner Notice as also a special notice of the Interpol-United Nations Security Council.
