Allaying fears on the nuclear deal, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said there was no question of compromise on the national security and independent foreign policy.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday said her party or its leaders would not compromise the interests of the country on any issue, including nuclear and foreign policy.

"We have been accused of compromising national interests... I want to tell you clearly that the Congress, which got independence and its leaders Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi made supreme sacrifices, will never weaken the nation," she said, while recalling withdrawal of the support to the UPA government by the Left Parties on the Indo-US Nuclear deal issue.

She was addressing a public meeting in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh after launching the Rajiv Gandhi Arogya Sri-II providing for cashless treatment to 6.5 crore BPL families in 23 districts of Andhra Pradesh.

"We don't need certificate from any political party," she said, while justifying the nuclear deal.
