The end of the ten-day Ganesh festival witnessed over 35,000 idols of the elephant-headed deity being immersed at various sea fronts across Mumbai amidst tight security, police said.
A civic body spokesperson said that immersions continued into the wee hours on Monday and 35,367 idols had been immersed till midnight.
The immersed idols included 3,831 community idols and 31,736 of those installed at homes, he said.
Lalbaugcha Raja, one of the most famous idols in the city was immersed at the Girgaum beach in South Mumbai at 0950 on Monday.
