Is the elite umpires panel good enough?
When the International Cricket Council set up an elite panel of eight umpires to officiate at all Test matches and one-day internationals, the objective was to improve the standard of decision-making. But over the last few months, the performance of the elite panel itself has come in for growing criticism. Asoka de Silva, who made a few glaring errors in India and now in New Zealand, is a case in point.
The ICC, however, has named the same panel for the World Cup two months later. Do you think it's a good decision? What is your solution for the problem of umpiring errors?
